That does suck. A CCW, good for five years, also works though.

But yes, that we have this crap to talk about in the first place is stupid.aczarnowskinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3274583756441452923.post-55589166924363921282010-03-23T17:53:20.130-04:002010-03-23T17:53:20.130-04:00Grrr!!!Grrr!!!New Jovian Thunderbolthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09452246769246304612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3274583756441452923.post-1966275904074717002010-03-23T17:15:17.990-04:002010-03-23T17:15:17.990-04:00...and of course, all that paperwork folderol appl......and of course, all that paperwork folderol applies only if I'm buying from an FFL; I can still buy from private individuals like an American.Tamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07285540310465422476noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3274583756441452923.post-24208489836592214502010-03-23T07:31:50.753-04:002010-03-23T07:31:50.753-04:00We may have a crappy "Approved Firearms Roste...We may have a crappy "Approved Firearms Roster" and an "Assault Weapons" ban, but no waiting periods.

I think I'd switch if given the chance...Jay Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11085873775096542015noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3274583756441452923.post-89590120356256110182010-03-23T07:27:15.004-04:002010-03-23T07:27:15.004-04:00well, CRAP, Seceshwell, CRAP, SeceshNew Jovian Thunderbolthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09452246769246304612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3274583756441452923.post-61955490011742750102010-03-23T00:20:12.018-04:002010-03-23T00:20:12.018-04:00You're right about the exemption to the OHGAM ...You're right about the exemption to the OHGAM law in VA if you have a CCW. But the law isn't changing if you don't have the exemption, the Dims formed a "Death Star" committee and killed that bill and a half-dozen others.Seceshnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3274583756441452923.post-1783950806491362612010-03-22T18:40:25.946-04:002010-03-22T18:40:25.946-04:00I had 10-minute service in NJ (walked in at a quar...I had 10-minute service in NJ (walked in at a quarter of closing, and they close when the NJSP stops answering the NICS-phone). It was on a rifle, and I had my FID, of course. Prior to OHGAM in NJ, once you have the paperwork (and yes, it can be delayed much longer than the statutory time), you go in, go out, get done. We even have private sale (both parties responsible for filing the paperwork afterwards) without a NICS check.

That said, I still can't impulse-buy a 4G Glock like a PA friend of mine...Ian Argenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03704336044732061128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3274583756441452923.post-29516588916639408932010-03-22T17:35:04.243-04:002010-03-22T17:35:04.243-04:00Hear, hear, Reverend!Hear, hear, Reverend!New Jovian Thunderbolthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09452246769246304612noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3274583756441452923.post-50300670375468792502010-03-22T15:07:25.140-04:002010-03-22T15:07:25.140-04:00The longest I've ever had to wait was 45 minut...The longest I've ever had to wait was 45 minutes, on a busy day at the gun shop. Most recent purchase took 10 minutes. If I'd spring for a concealed carry permit (not needed in AK, but useful for travel out-of-state), then no background check is required for future purchases.

That's the way it should be everywhere.Rev.
