Carbine

Having shot MBtGE's CX4 Storm again I came to a realization.

A carbine is not a lightweight weak rifle.  It's a strong, longish, bulky, pistol set on 'Easy' mode.  I think that is what attracts me to them.

Now what good are they other than that...  You won't 'carry' one other than in very extreme shorter range social situations, (like defending your franchise store from rioters and looters.)  You don't hunt with em.  Being fun is a good enough reason.

  1. Being fun is PLENTY of reason, but the price tag of a CX4 is why I own a (you may laugh) HiPoint. It's ugly as sin and cheap as dirt and goes bang every single time I pull the trigger.

  2. The CX4 is most likely the current best of the breed in commercially manufactured pistol caliber semi auto carbines. I like the AR based model’s that use available sub-gun magazines but the cost factor keeps me from buying one. Probably the best bang for the buck in pistol caliber carbines is Hi-Point Arms; its only shortfall is the small capacity magazine. Now, if someone ever comes out with an aftermarket higher capacity magazine that works correctly?

  3. Well. in Honor of 9-11, I went to a gun show this weekend. I saw a few Px Storms, but they were running about $700. However, there were a LOT of ARs going for that price range. Bottom end, of course, but a lot of them. IMHO, if one is stuck inside of some Gulag of a City where one CANNOT own a Pistol and/or those "Evil Black Rifles" are banned, then one could use a Pistol Caliber Carbine as a PDW. But with the price of .223 coming down (in Bulk), I just don't see the cost effectiveness of having one. YMMV, of course.

  4. "I Want One" is the only reason you need for buying a gun. This is still (mostly) a free country, after all. :)

  6. Just so. Think of it as a 100 yard pistol.

  7. I want one too, but with the price tag that's just not a possibility right now.

  8. That thing is great. I don't care what it costs. I am buying one.

You can always offend hippies in the comment section. Chances are, those will be held up as a proper example...
