So a suspected spam commenter saw my post about my gunstore offering 62 gr green tip 5.56 ammo, 420 for $160, and put a link to a website that has something similar, 1000 rounds at $270. Except the 1000 rounds are 'remanufactured.'
Now it could just be a anonymous commenter that wants to alert folks to a good deal. Or it could be the website owner trying to drive commerce, which is sorta fine, too. Sorta.
But is it a good deal, really? Sure it's about $100 cheaper for 1000 rounds, but I've had personal trouble with remanufactured stuff.
I can get 1000 rounds of PMC for $300+tax, so not really.
ReplyDeleteI am about to order another 1000 rounds of .45acp.
ReplyDeleteI usually buy local or at the gunshow. I wanted to try an online supplier this time.
Brass FMJ is me only requirements for practice ammo.
Where are the deals?
I use Ammo Engine to comparison shop. Also some of the bigger online suppliers to see what is out there. Ammo Man and Lucky Gunner.
ReplyDeleteI don't buy the cheapest on purpose. For one reason it is often steel cased and dirty propellant types on the cheap end and I don't want to deal with that headache. At least I know how much I am getting hosed over when I see all the price per round stats.
No steel case .45 for me either. My 1911 chokes on it bad.
ReplyDeleteI do buy it in 9mm only because my Glock will eat anything.
With .45 being my goto round I don't mind paying a bit more.
SportsmansGuide has BRASS cased, Boxer Primed 230 grain .45ACP Ball for $315 (plus S+H) for 800 rounds prepackaged in a G.I Ammo can. And for those who like Navy Garands and M1A's, they are selling 400 rounds of FEDERAL 7.62 Nato 150 grain Ball in an Ammo can for $270 plus S+H. There's other stuff on sale also that's NOT Steel cased. Hope this helps.
ReplyDeleteThat was probably me... as I say I look at slickguns.com for the hot cheap deals first. My stance on remanufactured ammo is that I've never had issues with factory stuff but I'd be nervous about risking my gun on sumdood's loads and sobriety.
ReplyDeleteYou gotta remember that 62-gr. is usually about $80 more per thousand than 55-gr.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LsiscYhujA&noredirect=1 kinda increases my confidence...
Besides $100 less on a $300 purchase is like 30% off...
ReplyDeleteand I'm looking ALL OVER THE PLACE and the only places that have any ammo only have it because their prices are high-
I got 1000 rounds of Federal .45 JHP of off slickguns for $399 and I doubt you'll find a better deal esp. for HD... however if y9u have a 1911 it may not feed reliably of course... do what I did and get an XD tact .45
I only want beautiful shiny nickel plated .45 cases to launch liquid tumblers of golden fire from my magnificent Ed Brown Kobra Carry. But I'm not a Spetnaz Battlefield Ninja Warrior, I'm an old civilian dood who's old. Did I say old?
