Cleaning

I've cleaned a few deer, with supervision.  It gets easier each time, as the lesson internalizes, but it's still not a simple thing.

I've cleaned fish as a kid.

I should probably at least LEARN the basics of other critters, just to know, just in case.

  1. That is NOT the way to clean dove. I couldn't find a youtube of the proper way, it takes a few seconds and does not involve a knife. Basically, you tear the breast away from the back, wings and guts by pushing your thumbs into the body cavity at the tip of the breast, then pulling your hands apart while grasping the breast in one hand and back in the other. When done correctly this will leave the breast completely separated from the rest of the bird. Then you grasp the skin of the breast up near the wing joint and peel it off, feathers and all.

  2. Found a good video, this guy does it slightly different than I learned, but works well.

I reserve the right to delete patently offensive comments. Or, really, any comment I feel like. Or I might leave a really juicy comment up for private ridicule. Also spammers.

You can always offend hippies in the comment section. Chances are, those will be held up as a proper example...
