Why no lube?

Or solvent?  In my range bag?

Well, I'll tell you...  I have a phobia about all kinds of leakages.  Roof.  Radiator.  Box of wine.  Personal 4th point of contact.  Other people's 4th point of contact.  Commuter mug.  And solvent from a container of gun cleaner is another.

Anyone know a full proof tiny container (spark plug size) I could add to a cleaning kit?  One I can trust more than I can trust myself after eating a sleeve of those fat-free Pringles with Olestra or whatever?  Leak proof.  Nigh unbreakable.

(Something about the lil bottle with the HK cleaning kit or the M14 cleaning kit...  I just don't trust them.  They seem too fragile and flimsy.  Like they were produced by the lowest bidder.)

  2. I keep a bottle of FP-10 in a ziploc bag. It's worked fine so far. Also an aerosol can of Strike Hold.

  3. I have a sealed canister that held nicotine gum my brother gave me.

  4. Break-free makes a pin-style applicator.

Or you could talk to a doc you know and get a syringe with a cap. Fill it with light oil.

  5. You could do the 'belt and suspenders' thing and get a small dropper bottle and store that inside a prescription pill bottle with a locking cap.

  6. The Wilson's red crap in a syringe has never leaked. . . but it's more of a grease than an oil.

My tiny BreakFree bottles have never leaked on me, as long as I remembered to snap the cap fully closed. Neither did the CLP bottles in my GI cleaning kits.

You could also find a screw top camping cannister large enough to hold a bottle of the super lube of your choice.

  7. Surplus Russian Oilers. Made of Metal. Or the Oiler that came with the M1 Carbine to hold the Sling in place.

  8. Lee-Enfield oilers are also really, really, leakproof, especially the brass ones. Just make sure the washer (polymer or leather) is in decent shape.

  9. I also like the FP-10...never had a leak. My range bag has a holder on the outside for a water bottle or some such, so I usually drop it in there. If it were to leak, it's be outside the bag.

  10. Those cheap bottles that come in the butt-stock AR cleaning kits are remarkably leak proof.

Going on decades with a couple with nary a drop spilled.

I reserve the right to delete patently offensive comments. Or, really, any comment I feel like. Or I might leave a really juicy comment up for private ridicule. Also spammers.

You can always offend hippies in the comment section. Chances are, those will be held up as a proper example...
