On or about this day 70 years ago my grandfather earned a Silver Star working as a radio man in Headquarters Company of the 1st Battalion 7th Marines.  Posthumously.

    Awards for valor weren't handed out wholesale. I'm sure what he did was truly heroic. Bless him for his service.
