Just another reason for gummint to boss people around 'for their own good.' (Whose own good? The people? Or the bosses?)
"Do what we say and evacuate or thousand will die!"
Thousands don't die.
"See? We saved you! Re-elect me. What would you do without your betters in local government telling you how to wipe your own butt."
Though I did fill up on Monday and have been topping off gas every evening since then. "How close are you to the deadly Category 7 hurricane, T-Bolt?" Maybe 500 miles?
48 Hours ago it looked like Hampton Roads would feel part of the storms fury. I had tanked up as well. Anyone who has lived through a hurricane knows that its nothing to take lightly.
ReplyDeleteI feel for the people in south east North Carolina. Florence has been hammering them for the last 24 hours an is only now making landfall. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteYou can go all libertarian and stand on your rights and not evacuate when a mandatory evacuation is ordered by The Man. But then you shouldn't expect The Man to come and pull you off your roof or out of your attic. If you violate your part of the social contract, then the social contract is void. If you want to be on your own, you can stay on your own.
I don't know why the tag said "Unknown." I musta made a mistake. First time ever.
ReplyDeleteApparently the internet gods are mad at poor Old 1811. Must be something I said.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to everyone in the Carolinas.
Fixed it, I think.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, that was me commenting about the social contract.
