Relative Size

Oh my.

That cruiser in the backgound?  That's HUGE.  Much bigger than I'd have figured.  You can't really tell until you stand on one.  There are plenty of BB museums out there, you should check one out.

Baltimore class?  Cleveland?

How bout this?

Fletcher class Destroyer.  USS Haraden.

Also HUGE when you look at it from a landing craft.

Tiny tiny shells. Only 14 inches in diameter. Weighing about a ton.

  1. My son was honorably discharged after 6 plus years of Navy service, last December. He was stationed on the Ticonderoga class cruiser the USS Leyte Gulf. He was on deployment in the Arabian Sea, watching Iran to keep them in check with their carrier group, headed by the USS Abraham Lincoln.
They came within 10 minutes of firing a missile at Iran, only stopping when the president said no.

  3. Floatation mats, Ritchie. Out of the way up there. Ship sinks you get 100 men hanging on one of those

I reserve the right to delete patently offensive comments. Or, really, any comment I feel like. Or I might leave a really juicy comment up for private ridicule. Also spammers.

You can always offend hippies in the comment section. Chances are, those will be held up as a proper example...
