Sleep Aid

A lot of what I am doing to relieve my back pain is not recommended or sustainable, long term.  If I could get oxycodone I wouldn’t take it because of side effects and addiction issues.  I take a lotta ibuprofen but that can't go on forever as it is bad for he kidneys.  Acetaminophen is bad for the liver, especially if you drink, so that is out.  Aspirin is bad for the G.I. tract in pain relief dosages.

And I use a tumbler of bourbon as a sleep aid.

Can't keep that up because my favorite varieties of bourbon aren't cheap.

Do you know what the sleep aid ingredient is in stuff like Tylenol Nighttime?  Benadryl.  I may alternate some of that instead of booze.  Especially in allergy season.

  1. My brother in law has suffered for many years from chronic rheumatoid arthritis. He now is on a palliative regime (medical grade morphine). However, the dose needed to relieve the pain leaves him essentially lobotomised. To maintain a reasonable level of mental acuity, he supplements half the recommended dose of morphine with a variety of marijuana which is high in CBD and low in TCH. This seems to work for him.
Of course, since the medics in this jurisdiction are not allowed to prescribe medical marijuana, he has to chose between going to a dealer, or breaking the law and growing his own [sigh].

  2. Gabapentin works for me...

  3. Gabapentin helps me some with the nerve pain from damaged nerve roots. I had two level fusion in my lumbar region eleven years ago and S1 has been acting up for a year or so. The neurosurgeon would like to fuse that level too but pain or not I no way. I have had steroid shots twice which help but COVID and distance to a doctor have been problems for more shots. Be carful on the gabapentin dosage, the first script wanted me to take 600mg twice a day and left me a zombie. Half that isn’t too bad but it is not a cure all.

I reserve the right to delete patently offensive comments. Or, really, any comment I feel like. Or I might leave a really juicy comment up for private ridicule. Also spammers.

You can always offend hippies in the comment section. Chances are, those will be held up as a proper example...
