$15?!

That's outrageous!  I won't PAY it.

I got nothing so I scanned a Sears catalog from 1908.  $15 for a pocket hammerless.  Sheesh.  And $.90 per magazine...

I was LOOKING for old typewriters.  Hmph.

  1. That $15 is about $350 in todays money.
So it looks like things have stayed about the same.

  2. Yeah, but that $15 dollars could have been paid with One GOLD Coin, and you could have gotten SILVER in Change. Nowadays, we pay with NEGATIVE $15 TRILLION Dollar Paper IOUs from the Federale Gooberment.

  3. You used to be able to buy a brand-new Colt's Peacemaker for a shiny $20 gold coin.

    Nowadays you still can. ;)

  4. Tam beat me to it, kinda sorta... It would actually take about THREE $20 gold coins for a Peacemaker today (if it was a gen 1)...

  5. Old NFO,

Well, I meant an ounce of gold for a new Peacemaker. :o

(Although I suppose you can get a new Colt's for a bit less than MSRP...)

I reserve the right to delete patently offensive comments. Or, really, any comment I feel like. Or I might leave a really juicy comment up for private ridicule. Also spammers.

You can always offend hippies in the comment section. Chances are, those will be held up as a proper example...
