Well, it took 9 years for the 8 AA batteries in this guy to die. Good to know.
Must remember to change it out in 2022 instead. Beat the rush.
Another tip. When you put fresh batteries in and it still beeps twice every hour indicating low battery, well you might have put one of them in backwards. DAMHINT.
How did I get so smart on this? There is a manual online.

Check those batteries as often as you do smoke detector batteries. Battery quality has taken a huge dump in the past couple years, due to the costs of inflation. I no longer buy them from Duracell, or from Costco, whose batts are made by them, as they will puke their guts out without warning. I don't mean just leak a bit, I mean push their entire contents out.
I haven't bothered to check a smoke detector batter for 10 years.
