We used to have a lot of squirrels around here. Haven't seen them for a while. We even had some of them black squirrels that came up from College Park Maryland.
Lately haven't seen any.
I have seen a guy like this perched on the tall house on the street:
He/she seems fatter than he was earlier in the year. Hmmmmmmm....
I think I know where the squirrels went.

One of my favorite hunting spots is lousy with squirrels. They provide plenty of amusement when there aren't deer around.
Occasionally I've watched a red-tail hawk fly overhead, which the squirrels don't seem to notice, until it makes that classic hawk "Screeeeeeeee". Then the woods become instantly silent and still.
I don't think the squirrel population has recovered from the blight that almost completely destroyed their food two years ago.
We need to go squirrel hunting man!
They put a nest for those Mini-Buzzards up on that Exhaust Stack you probably saw when you were in town, and the population of all the little Furry Creatures in my neighborhood have dramatically declined in recent years. Now there's talk that the Power Plant will be shut down and leveled in a few years. Wonder if I can't get the Sierra Club to take on the Clean Air Commies because the destruction of the Plant and Tower will "destroy the Habitat of the Mini-Buzzard"? Either way, those damn Mini-Buzzards have severely reduced my Emergency Meat Supply!
Yep, dinner on four feets... :-) And that guy needs to work off that squirrel gut he's getting!
Andy, i don't know where you are, but that certainly isn't the case in Baltimore. they're EVERYWHERE.
One of those cleared out all the squirrels in the CIA courtyard one summer. The tree rats slowly came back. Never saw the hawk again. We suspected the KGB.
