Johnny E. Bush grew up wealthy. Wealthy people have people working for them who carry guns (think of Teddy Kennedy). The only gun that a person of Johnny's class might deign to shoot would be a fine shotgun.

for the wealthy, guns are a class issue, not a political issue. They don't want the proles to have access to weapons.
