You may be interested in the videos from Industrial JP. While the spring video is of CNC machines creating various springs, the other videos are of industry in Japan still using old, pre-computer machine tools to create various things.
I don't want to include too many links - SPAM filters hate that, but I will include this one. Sakamoto Factory Ltd Because while it isn't the most interesting, about a third of the way thru you get a good look at that way cams control various parts of the process. Actually you get a couple of good looks at the control mechanisms.
