This is why I prefer a 1911. Captain Miller carried one. And there is a half way decent chance he used it to explode a Tiger tank.
Sure, a P-51 flew over at the same time. But I'm thinking there is a 50/50 chance the 230 grain projectile went down the barrel of the 88 mm tank main gun and caused the HE round in battery to explode prematurely.
I wonder how many other tanks have been taken down with pistol/rifle fire?

On teensy little quibble.
Hitting the detonator on the nose of the round wouldn't work until the round had been fired. It's not armed until acceleration from firing knocks a little pin out of the way.
