I looked up my old home town of Ames, Iowa.
There's a death listed. http://www.gunviolencearchive.org/incident/362319
The Victim is listed as unharmed and the perpetrator is listed as killed. They're using the correct terminology for a defensive shooting anyways. Perhaps there's hope.
Of course on all of them that are fatalities it lists "Shot-Dead (murder, accidental, suicide)"
