Was Disco more influential than Punk?
I think they were about the same, looking back from this peak.
Disco ended up being more influential in the long term than that beloved critical darling genre of punk.

Boomers were dead wrong.
When KISS Dynasty came out in 79 they talk in the press (16 magazine) that one of the tracks had Disco appeal. Disco was already dead. Most thought KISS was at this time, too. That was the opinion of the other 10, 11, and 12 year olds in my neighborhood, at least.
I still have a full set of KISS cards somewhere...

Disco was dance music. Punk wasn't.
Guess which style got (and still gets) more play time in clubs?
It's not a coincidence that European for "dance club" is "Disco".
Then I want more Waltzes! And Mambos!
Personally, I'd like to hear more Big Band / Swing music. Benny Goodman, etc.
