We used to be able to MAKE things in this region, in this company town. Things beside corruption, busybodies, BS paperwork, and regulations.
This was in Southeast.
There is still a Torpedo Factory across the river in Alexandria, but it's now an art center, not a factory.

not insurmountable -- prices on ribeye steaks, so I bought a couple of
small ones....

Hey, that art center probably makes a better torpedo now than the Navy did in '41...
Cool. Loved seeing the engineers using slipsticks for calculations, and the talk of tolerances in a few thousandths of inches.
