Don't forget to read your 50 year old gun magazine...
You'll notice something about he four issues from 1961. They gun culture is worried about gun restrictions being pushed down by politicians. And all this is BEFORE the Kennedy assassination and all the assassinations that followed '63. Gunnie today are lucky we ONLY got the 1968 Gun Control Act, the Hughes Amendment in 1986, and the Brady Act/s of the 90s.
They also worry about not having enough places to shoot. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

There is one bright spot. As I look at a Gun Digest from the 1990's I notice that many of the firearms that are on the market today had an MSRP significantly Higher two decades ago. Plus, if you factor in Inflation and Store Discounts, a new J-Frame or a Glock is actually 20-25% cheaper or more than they were in 1995.
But despite that, all we have going for us today compared to the early 60's is Combloc Weapon/ Ammo Availability and CCW and Open Carry and JHP Ammo and M-4's and Civilian Body Armor and Electronic Ear Muffs and Suppressors and Kydex Holsters and...... are you sure things are worse?
I want to pay $79.95 for a Johnson war surplus...
Let's see, $79.95 in 1961, multiply by 50 years of inflation, what's the going rate for one on Gunbroker?
I gotta find a good inflation index from year to year, but something tells me that a CMP Garand for $600 today is about the same cost for a DCM Garand in '61 ( or whenever the DOD released them to the public).
