My Dad was on The Wisconsin (the Wisky as they called her) during the Korean War. He loved her almost as much as he did my Mom.
Don't know if it is true or not, but I have heard that a broadside of all 9 guns would move the ship three feet sideways in the water.
My told me that when all 3 turrets fired, it moved the ship its width laterally. He could have been exaggerating. He said they were told the cost of each round fired was equal to the cost of a new Cadillac.
