Can't post that without noting the scene was originally supposed to be a complicated sword v whip duel. Ford was suffering...lets just say "intestinal discomfort" due to the local Tunisian water and didn't feel up to the scene as written. Couldn't be out of the trailer for more than 10 minutes at a time. This was the only scene left before they decamped back to England, so they went with this instead. Much more fun, I think. But it disappointed the stuntman that had honed his sword skills for months to do the scene.
Why would Indiana Jones using a 1917 cause a run on top-breaks?
Whenever I remember the pistol I remember the closeup of the empty top break in Temple of Doom. But Dr. Jones was more profligate with his pistol varieties, clearly.
