I'm at work right now, and Archie is with his daughter, but I can still find out if there is power at my house.
Archie is old school and doesn't cotton to new texhnology much. He's got a hifi that doesn't do that fancified 45RPM stuff. So, his answering machine is practically a reel to reel tape recorder. Well, that answering machine doesn't work when the power is off. So if you call it will just ring and ring.
I just called. ~Ring~ ~Ring~ ~Ring~ ~Ring~ ~Ring~ [old guy voice] "you have reached 301..."
Woot! I hope it holds out til I get home.

I just made "IsMyPowerOn" an app for your iPhone. Purchase and install this app and it will call Archie's number and use voice recognition to be able to tell you if the line is just ringing, or if a machine has picked up. It is a subscription app, so it will only cost you $35 per month. It is an absolutely indispensable app that you must have MUST HAVE!
I don't have a cell phone...
I meant that to be humorous.
Good for you! Remember to clean out the fridge if you haven't already... sigh...
I have an old analog clock that runs off of the house current, a digital clock that also runs off the house current and one with battery backup. So, if I come home and the one digital clock is blinking, I can calculate not only when the power went off, but for how long.
Sometimes I surprise even myself with my geekiness.
