And TOUGH bones too... Anything that can knock down a brick chimney and keep flying is pretty tough...
The P-47D-25 was the fastest piston engine plane of WW2 despite its size.
And never forget that one of the highest scoring aces flew one.

Small wonder that the Spit pilots said that taking evasive action in a P-47 consisted of running about the fuselage!
