A whole SLEW of gunbloggers have 'drunk the Kool Aid' and purchased the S&W M&P pistol, usually in 9mm. They have almost always bought the Apex aftermarket trigger to go along with the new gatt. It is cheap, easy to install, and the satisfaction with the improvement is so extraordinary I half expect S&W to buy out Apex and make the better trigger standard.
But there is zero chance I will buy an M&P, so there is no way I can get in on the fun... Or IS there...
Well, lookee... They make a drop in trigger improvement for J-Frames. I wonder what that will do for me. Hmmm.
Here is a question. People unfamiliar with my snubbie will pull the trigger all the way back, slowly, and the hammer won't trip. so: Squeeeeeeeeeeze, nothing. I know that they just need to pull a hair more that they haven't pulled it ALL the way back. It did this to me until I knew to pull with authority. Is there something there I should be worried about correcting? If I had more experience with LOTS of revolvers I might know this already. Maybe if I get the sideplate off I'll see it. But I bet there is even a NAME for this phenomena and some more knowledgeable gun enthusiast will tell me.

I've got their J-frame kit in my 642. Feels better, but I have yet to take it to the range.
As to your long-travel trigger... it may not have a name, but it doesn't sound "right" either.
I get a kick out of the whole "drunk the Kool Aid" thing.
When I told Shootin' Buddy at the August gun show last summer that I was going to buy a used Gen 2 or 3 Glock 19 or M&P 9 if I could find one for under four bills, I had no idea that it was announcing my intention to drink the M&P Kool Aid. If the other guy hadn't had those fruity XS Big Dots on his gun, I guess I would have drunk the Glock Kool Aid. ;)
Sounds like your revolver stacks pretty bad, but I'd need to sample the trigger pull myself to make sure we're thinking of the same thing.
Tam, you might have STARTED the trend. You OR Uncle. Everyone else are bandwagon fanbois.
(I kid, I kid... everyone else. Dang fanbois.)
Drop in kit's may be nice but I've avoided them for a long time just by doing some basic clean up work in the gun's action. I will be breaking this trend though with a Ruger Lc9 and SR22,sometime's it prudent to accept change.
Speaking of Kool Aid, does buying a Springfield Armory XD .45ACP (Service) constitute drinking same? Got one 3 weeks ago as an impulse buy and found it to be a very pleasant firearm.
Perhaps every popular firearm has its required load of Kool Aid to be consumed.
