They are fewer in number every day. The middle falls as both sides reach for their cores principles.
Also, like the mythical "moderate Muslim", there is effectively no such thing as a "moderate Leftist." Those that fit the description do not matter, as they never oppose what their fellows do or say, and have no power of their own. They cannot even say that what their fellows are doing is wrong, as they approve of the philosophy that drives those actions.
