Candy Cane

Dad asked, "Hey why were the guns in the Capitol Confrontation sporting red and white stripes?"

Huh?  Stripes?  What are you talking about old man?

Oh, those stripes.

Beats me.  There are some guesses on the internet that sound plausible as to their ID Friend or Foe features, but, yeah, guessing.  And if for FOF why aren't the other two?  I've heard nothing authoritative.  What say you?

Update:  Ah ha!  This?

Obviously it was put on the firearm so they would know who was responsible to make sure no Trump supporters were allowed into the room.

It could be so the officer could identify his gun when he retrieved it from a locker. When I was a LEO, I knew quite a few LEOs who put smiley-face stickers or labels on their pistols so they left with the right ones, and when I checked serial numbers on qual days I occasionally found partners who were carrying each other's guns because they spent a lot of time going in and out of jails, put both guns in the same locker to save time and trouble, and inadvertently switched them somewhere along the way. And if the rules where these people lock their guns up require removing the magazines, the slide is about the only place to put an identifier.

A personal piece as opposed to an armory check-out? Maybe he's just all fancy.
