This terrist in France, they are reporting here that he used, "a World War II 11.43 gun," to murder those children and rabbi and French soldiers. There are separate reports of other weapons at his apartment and that will make a news show Junk on the Bunk shot.
But any clue what the 'World War II 11.43 gun,' might be? It's a .44 or .45 ish round if the 11.43 is in millimeters.

11.25x23 is the metric designation of the .45ACP.
Could be anything from a Liberator, to a 1911, to a Thompson.
Yes, it could be those, but I kinda doubt it. I'm wondering if there is some wierd french milsurp in that designation.
45 ACP almost undoubtedly, and since it was a pistol being described dollars to doughnuts its a 1911.

Hmm or it could be one of the old 1911's that were chambered in .455, there are still some of those around.
My guess is it could be a 'Blue Eyed' gun;ie. a battlefield pick-up from WWII.
There is a whole culture of gun enthusiasts in France who traffic in these things (there is a large amount no one wants to talk about over there) and for the most part they are 'off' ticket.
The only reason I'm skeptical, though, is the collectors are very 'inclusive' with regard who they practice their 'hobby' with and hold immigrants and the guns/war materials smuggled in during the past Kosevo/Yugoslavia/Balkins war in great distain...

I'll jump in with the 1911 crowd, with one caveat- At least one Scandinavian country (I believe Norway, could easily be mistaken) issued a licensed, locally produced copy of the 1911, and it was stamped 11.43mm. Someone, please chime in with more detail...
