He didn't spring it as a surprise out of left field though. His family saw indications that caused them enough concern to call the police on him. They should have gone the extra step and had him committed even after he talked his way out of the "well being check" by law enforcement.
There was a previous incident where he tried to push a group of girls off a 10 ft retaining wall that they were sitting on.
that can't be. if that were true he'd have already been in a facility....
